Frequently Asked Questions 1) What is biodegradable product? What is it made from? A "biodegradable" product has the ability to break down safely, quickly by biological means, into the raw material of nature and disappear into the environment. These products can be solids biodegradable into the soil (which we refer to as compostable), or liquids biodegrading into water. Biodegradable plastic is intended to break up when exposed to microorganisms (a natural ingredient such as cornstarch or vegetable oil is added to achieve this result). The biodegradable material is an innovative production concept. Created from tapioca, up to 95%, mixed with some natural additive to combine start into polymer characteristic. 2) What suitable purpose can it be? It is suitable for daily or single used packaging such as lunch boxes, containers, cups, food trays, plates, bowls, cutlery. Dish washer usage is NOT recommended. 3) Is the material food graded? What is its characteristics? Initially, the raw material has passed the testing result with Intertrek Lab test. They are: E.N71 Part 3: 1994 with the incorporation of amendment A1:2000 U.S.21 CFR F.D.A Regulation Part 176.170 on paper & paperboard The product characteristic is microwavable, suitable for chilling/freezing and moister resistance. It contains temperature tolerance of -20 up to +120 degree celsius. 4) Is there any other certification like compostability testing? Absolutely, we are approaching to that well accepted certification. It is either ASTM 5338, ISO 14855, DIN 54900 or OK Compost. However, the process takes at least 10 months to certify. We shall notify the result on our web sites as soon as possible. In case that you would like to specify other certification, kindly let us know. We are willing to work with you. 5) Seems like this product is practical to be self-disposed at home, isn't it? The principle of compostability must be under some circumstance. The process of disposal must counter with some specific bacteria, suitable moisture , temperature, soil quality, etc. Thus, timing for the decomposition varies on several factors as we mention earlier.
6) Can you make the transparent color, other colors? Currently, we only provide its natural color (ivory). Some other colors, we shall add food graded color pigment like black, green. The transparent color is under research & development. 7) Could you provide some product samples? The initial product sample, up to 10 pieces, is free of charge. Kindly fill in sample request application form with your DHL, UPS or Fedex account number. We shall deliver to you with freight collected option. 8) What is the minimum of quantity (MOQ) of each shipment? Usually, the MOQ starts from 20' container per shipment (FCL). Assorted items are applicable. However, we serve some trial orders to pioneer the market. This should be at least 30,000 pcs per item. 9) Can you customize the product according to our requirement? Absolutely yes!! We are willing to closely develop the new era of packaging with customer, especially customer's design. After the drawing is finalized, it takes about 2 weeks to finish the mock up mold and get a sample. Green Shell promises that customer's design/drawings are all classified.
